On Our Way to Glacier

July 12, 2019

We were feeling pretty good . . . the Brake Buddy worked for the second day in a row, the dogs were happy because they had a play yard, and we slept a little later (well, I slept a little later).  We were on the road toward West Glacier after we got gas and I ran across the street for a Starbucks – probably my last for awhile.  We went through some gorgeous scenery, but our favorite was the place on the hillside where a herd of buffalo was grazing.  It was a stunning sight, but the pictures just don’t do it justice.  They were on top of the hill, meandering across, with babies frolicking with each other.  We have the sight firmly imbedded in our brains – I wish I could share its beauty with others.

When we arrived in Polson to pick up Katie, Bart told us she had a problem.  The lock on her fifth-wheel had come loose and had fallen into her pick-up.  Luckily the only damage was cosmetic, but she was pretty shaken.  By the time we reached her RV site, she was ready to go, and we headed out to West Glacier.

The road followed the shore of Flathead Lake.  The lake is the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, and driving alongside it, I believe it.  The water is a delightfully clear blue, with gorgeous trees surrounding it. We followed it all the way to Edgewater and then turned toward West Glacier.  Cherries are in season, and Huckleberries, too, so we bought both, just to make the perfect day.
