Going to Valdez is a dead-end drive, so Monday we had the privilege to drive back through Keystone Canyon. What a gorgeous place! With its waterfalls and narrow canyons, it is one of those place we will always remember.
This time the sun was in the right place for pictures of the canyon below and the Lowe River. The mups and I walked out to the edge to look over the side, and since Don and I had left early to test the RV and Don's repair job, I returned just in time for Bart's and Katie's arrival.

We thought we would see many critters along the way, but unfortunately, we did not see any. We did see some beautiful scenery, the Matanuska glacier (which has not grown nor receded in 400 years), and numerous rivers. The twenty-five mile stretch of curvy roads with no guardrails and steep cliffs was interesting, and thank goodness the Willie didn't act up again until we were almost in Anchorage.
We are a bit concerned about Willie, but we took him into the shop on Tuesday morning, and they could find nothing wrong. The one part they now suspect is not only not available anywhere in the US, it is on backorder. Oh great. So even if we knew for sure it is a problem, we couldn't do anything about it. My stomach is a little nervous about the whole prospect, and for the next few weeks, I will probably be driving the Jeep behind the Willie, which is really not my favorite choice - but I guess it is better than breaking down!
Tuesday in Anchorage gave us time to go to the Turkey Red restaurant, a place we had gone with Di 6 years ago. It is one of those cozy, cute lunch and bakery-style places with delicious food. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Then we discovered Big Bear Grocery stores. They get all of their goods from Costco, which is interesting because no membership is needed. We were able to procure nearly everything we needed (and of course, plenty we did not need) before retiring back to the RV to await Char's arrival. Then tonight Katie will pick up Rhonda and Jeri, her two friends from Eaton, and we are off to have another great adventure.
