Camping at Carl G. Washburne State Park

When Ginny and Gary Marti told us they were going to be babysitting a lighthouse, Don decided we needed to make their stop a point on our trip.  They are camped at the Carl G. Washburne State Park.  They warned us that we might have trouble finding a spot, and had it now been for them, we would have.  But good friends that they are, they paid for our spot before we arrived.

We have stayed in some lovely campgrounds, and this one ranks right at the top with a few others.  The RV is nestled right up under some trees, against a small brook.  One would think that would be a mosquito-ridden mess, but so far, we have seen zero mosquitoes.  It is a nicely shaded park, shielded from most of the coastal winds.  Although we did not need the bath house, we understand it, too, is nice, and we have electricity and grey water disposal.

In our campsite we have huckleberries, salal berries, and numerous other green shrubs.  We picked some huckleberries for a Sunday breakfast of huckleberry pancakes, eggs, and bacon.  The Martis joined us for Gary's birthday breakfast before they went to work at the lighthouse, and since I also baked some cookies, Don had one or two of those!

A short path leads to the beach, one can ride bikes, and the ambiance is perfect for reading.  We highly recommend this lovely campground!
