Henna, anyone? Check. Jewelry makers? Check. Wood art? Check. Photography? Check. Local artisans of all disciplines? Check, check, and check!
The Portland Arts and Crafts Fair has been operating continuously on Saturdays and Sundays since the mid-1980's. That is a long time for an arts and crafts fair, but it is obvious why.
Good weather helps. And an emphasis on local art helps. Although there were some places to purchase food, in general the fair was comprised of tent after tent of local work. We enjoyed looking at the many beautiful products, from hand-blown glass ornaments to wood bowls to creations using repurposed items for everything from clothing to bowls made of spoons.
We were lucky in that we arrived not long after the fair opened. We beat most of the crowd, and since it was a very warm day, within an hour or two, we were well-ready to leave.
