A multi-colored hydrangea outside the restaurant |
When we temporarily split so Betsy could get ready to go, we stopped by this little melon market. Our favorite part reminded us of our trip to Denmark, where farmers would leave produce in boxes and passers-by would pick it up and pay . . . on the honor system. In Denmark, the boxes usually were on the table. In this case, it was a lock-box affixed to the wall. But either way, it depended upon honesty - an old-fashioned thought but so refreshing!
The wedding was actually in Philometh, but we never got to the site as we were running a little behind. After the group reconvened, we decided to visit the Gathering Together Farm, a larger organic produce farm. The attractive store was filled with beautifully arranged produce, and vintage items decorated the eating area. The outdoor flower garden attracted us as it, too, was beautifully done.
Since we had eaten so much for lunch, we chose just to go have dessert. Well, it did not quite work out that way, but we split a cheese tray, a smallish pizza, and then purchased several desserts. My thought was we would each get something different and share . . . but the berry crisp caught too many people's eyes . . . so with the exception of Kathy, who ordered a peach melba, and me, who ordered a lemon cake, the rest ordered the berry crisp. My lemon cake, however, certainly won for presentation, and it was pretty darned good!
