Coffee Shops

We had thought there would be an abundance of coffee shops in Iceland, but there do not seem to be.  On Saturday, since our car was misbehaving, we did not get lunch.  Therefore, when we arrived at our hotel, we began to look for food. We could have gone to Subway, which was right next door, but somehow that just did not seem right.

We went in search of a coffee shop, and Don found one.  It is the precursor to the Barnes and Noble bookstore, coffee shop.

Upon entering, we saw books on shelves, a computer, tables and chairs, and an area with comfy, albeit a bit worn, chairs and couches.

Music the old-fashioned way
The proprietress explained that with a cup of coffee we could have as much of the food on the table . . . For 1000 krone, which is less than $10.  On the table was fresh fruit, a ham and mushroom torte, fried bread, and three cakes, including a flourless chocolate.  Done.  I had hot chocolate in a huge cup, Don had coffee, and we ate more than enough to tide us over for dinner.

As much as we wanted from this table - YUM!
My cup of hot chocolate - it was huge!
We loved supporting this woman while having delicious food.
