When we were young and went to Disneyland (I was 5), one of the rides included a trek through mud pots in Yellowstone. Ever since then, our family has been enthralled with mud pots, and every trip to Yellowstone has included a walk through them.
Outside Lake Myvatn is a large geothermal field, complete with numerous mudpots. I was fascinated with these as much as I have been with the ones in Yellowstone. The Yellowstone ones are shades of brown, yellow and red; these are shades of gray. The top one of the pictures looked almost steel blue, and it bubbled like a thick pot of paint would. The black one was a little more liquid, more like a soup pot.
The bad part? The sulphur smell, but much of Iceland smells that way, so we are getting used to it!
