Way Up North

When we drove to Alaska, we never got the sense we were going off the end of the earth.  But here . . . yikes!  The desolate drive today reminded us that there are some pretty uninhabitable part of the world, and this is one of them.  We frequently felt like we were at the North Pole, and if some of the snow had not been melting, I think we could have been convinced of it.
