Herding Cats
When I talk about herding cats, one might think I am referring to our tour group, which indeed might qualify. But instead, I am really talking about cats.
We visited Kennedy Park in Lima, which is a small green space in Miraflores. Besides being across the street from the City Hall, it is known for its cat population. The cats had become such a problem, that the district made a plan with local cat enthusiasts to help solve the problem.
Now this group of volunteers takes care of the cats. They built shelters for the cats, they spay and neuter, they feed, and generally they make sure the cats do not overpopulate the park. The cats keep the rat population down, they wander around so people can pet them, and generally they lead a good life. What a great way to take care of the feral cat population, at least in this one small location.
