One particular item has struck me nearly everywhere we have gone in Canada and Alaska. The homes and towns are decorated with gorgeous hanging pots and planters. Beginning in Banff, we began to see huge hanging plants, and Tuesday, coming through Prince George, the entire town was decorated with them. And in between, we saw gorgeous examples of pots, planters and hanging pots.
At first, I couldn't figure out why plants grew so well here. And then it occurred to me. A combination of moisture, cool temperatures, and long days provide the perfect environment for beautiful flowers. The problem is the growing season is so short, they are gone by mid-September. It is too bad, as these flowers brightened up every town we visited.
