Monday morning we had a few hours to explore Dunedin before our tour, so before it rained we grabbed a coffee at The Perc and headed out. We wanted to see the Presbyterian church that was founded in 1848 by two men, Cargill and Reverend Thomas Burns. As contrasted with the Anglican Church, this one is opulen. The building was built in 1867, and other churches have since merged with it.
Although most of the island practices Catholicism or Anglicanism, the Presbyterian influence in Dunedin is quite strong, and the Scottish tradition is very obvious.
