Signs, Signs, Everywhere are Signs

I love this sign.  Canadians have it right.

At this particular stop, which was Mistaya Falls, there was adequate fencing to keep most people from falling into the river or over the waterfall.  But it was obvious that some people had walked around the fence, putting themselves into a precarious position.

These fellows were much closer to the edge before Don snapped this picture

In the US, we are so hung up on lawsuits and people suing others, that we try to protect people to the extreme.  We would have fences upon fences upon fences.  We would have sign after sign after sign.  Yet someone would still find a way to go around it.  And then, when someone gets hurt, a lawsuit would be filed.  And then . . . more rules would be made.

I appreciate that the Canadian government takes reasonable precautions to protect its citizens, but it puts the responsibility for following the precautions upon the proper party . . . the person.  I am curious whether the Canadians do not allow lawsuits for stupidity, or whether they just do not go to those measures . . . but we obviously do.
