Dolly Parton
When we came to Alaska Katie told me she wanted to catch a Dolly Parton. Dolly Parton? I didn't know there was a fish called a Dolly Parton.
Once we arrived, I realized it was a Dolly Varden. It is a type of char, apparently very tasty, and very pretty.
On Tuesday morning, we hired a guide to take us fishing. Don, Teri, and I all caught two inchers; but Katie caught several large fish, including this beautiful Dolly Varden.
It looks like a cross between a Brook Trout and a German Brown. It was 13" long, so we could have kept it, but we decided to release it back into the water. Now we know what a Dolly Varden is and are hoping to catch more later this week.
