Kassik Brewery

As we headed for home from Captain Cook State Park, we decided to go to the local advertised brewery.  Don has yet to find a beer he doesn't like, and he had already tried (and enjoyed) one of this brewery's beers when we were in Hope.  So he wanted to see what else was there.  We thought Chris might enjoy it, too, as she drinks beer.  But we found out she likes Bud Light.  And only Bud Light.  But she was willing to taste it, just in case.

The brewery is understated; there is one table, a tasting counter, and a popcorn popper.  Not exactly what we were expecting, but this is Alaska.

Don tasted three different beers; we purchased four - they were out of one he wanted to taste, but they had a bottle of it.  Dolly Varden beer - two jugs are better than one.  Great.  A sexist beer.

In the meantime, Chris asked for the beer closest to Bud Light.  This was her reaction:

Not a hit.  So she asked for another one that might be close.

The third was no better.  While Don went 3 and 0, Chris went 0 for 3.  She said she knew she didn't like brewery beers, but she is always willing to try, just in case she likes one.  I love that positive attitude!

Don ended up purchasing four different bottles of Kassik beer.

In case you can't read the titles, they are (left to right), Caribou Kilt Wee Heavy Scotch, Dolly Varden Nut Brown, Moose Point Porter, and Big Nutz (imperial brown).  The Caribou Kilt Wee Heavy Scotch was a bronze award winner at the Beer World Cup (who knew there was such a thing) for Scotch Ale.  All of the ales Don purchased had received some sort of recommendation at the major beer competition.  We hope Kenneth likes them!
