Arrowtown

As part of our tour, we were taken to a small town called Arrowtown. Begun as a gold rush town, it is now a quaint shopping area. The old Chinese gold camp is still standing, but we were not given enough time to visit. We did have time, however, to go to Patagonia, a chocolate store, for some real hot chocolate - none of the powdered mix stuff, but melted chocolate with milk, served out of a cauldron. It was absolutely delicious! Walking the town did not take very long, but we were told that all of the buildings were from the original gold camp times in the 1860s-1880s, which made it a very fun walk. I could have spent a little more time there just soaking up the history, but it was time to move on . . .
