OMG

In 1988, a man named AJ Hackett decided to try a dare-devil feat off of a bridge - bungy jumping. He loved it, and decided to try to make a business of it. One year, I believe in 1989, he went to the Eiffel Tower, smuggled in some ropes and bungys and jumped off one of the platforms. The French authorities were not amused, and the next day they put him on a plane and told him never to return. (If you notice in the sign, the A in the logo is shaped like the Eiffel Tower.) Since then he has created 12 official bungy jumping centers around the world, and although there are many knock-offs, the one we visited was the very first one. For free we could go down to a platform and watch, which we did. Don took several videos that will eventually be posted here, but for now we just have a few pictures.
It was heart-stopping to watch, but there was quite a line of people itching to do it. Needless to say, Don and I were not two of them.
