Turnagain Arm

The drive through Turnagain Arm is always harrowing, as there is a lot of traffic on a narrow, winding road, and the locals drive it much more aggressively than we tourists.  We were also very nervous about Willie, so we were being extra careful.

We were disappointed that we did not see any Beluga Whales nor any sheep, but that was ok, since we really had no business being diverted from the road.

Part of the way there, we saw a wreck - a Montana fifth-wheel had been semi-headonned (is that even close to a word) by a truck, which took out the fifth-wheel and the car behind it.  We don't think anyone was hurt too badly, but it was a mess.  Luckily, Katie was still in Anchorage getting her fifth-wheel fixed, so she didn't have to see "her" fifth-wheel in a wreck.

We stopped at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center so that the ladies who had joined Katie and Char could see moose, bears, bison, and caribou up close, and we were lucky to get to see this little porcupine during a demonstration.  She (Kit Kat) really was very cute!

We arrived at Quartz Creek just in time to do some fishing and to eat dinner!  Perfect!
