Another Ten Hour Drive

The day started early for two reasons:  we were on Pacific Time, which meant we automatically would awaken early, and then there is Babs.  She needed to go outside at 4:30, which was really 5:30, and we were going to get up at 6:30, so why not just get out of bed.  We were on the road early.

The drive took us past beautiful lakes, craggy peaks, elk and deer, and fast-rushing rivers.  It also took us to the Fire Valley Restaurant in Canal Flats . . . where we had delicious blueberry and strawberry/rhubarb pies.  We liked them so much we bought a whole blueberry pie for dessert this evening.  They were homemade by the owner - enough said.

Columbia Lake

We had no issues getting through customs, our campsite was ready, Katie and Chris were already in their spot . . . Perfect.  After an enchilada dinner, Chris, Diana, Don and I took a hike down the Hoodoo trail to see the Hoodoos and the view of the Bow River, while Katie stayed back at camp and watched the ground squirrels.  (Don't tell anyone, but she was feeding them sunflower seeds, and they were loving it.)

Babs has started something new, also.  When we are outside, she stands at the top of the stairs in the RV and lunges toward the door.  Once I thought she was trying to jump out; once she may have fallen.  Either way, that complicates things.  I do not think she is capable of remembering not to do that, so we have started putting her kennel in the stairwell.  The joys of traveling with a geriatric dog.
