Dalvik

Sometimes, the next surprise is just around the corner.  We had driven many of the fjords, had just come up the scary road, and were really hungry but really had not seen anywhere to stop.  Then in Davlik we saw this little coffee house.  A few people were around it, so we parked and walked in.

It was a charming little place, with home made items behind the counter, knick knacks everywhere, and several tables of people eating.  We took a seat for two, and we ordered a sandwich and fish soup.

We had no idea what we would be getting with the fish soup, and when it arrived, it was obvious we had made the right choice.  With plenty of vegetables, nicely-sized chunks of fish, and fresh cream dolloped on top, how could we go wrong?

Two different kinds of bread accompanied the soup - I didn't have the one with olives, but the other one was wonderful.

When we arrived one group of people was in the corner, and they had really warm gear on.  Soon many others showed up in similar gear.  We thought either whale watching or skiing, and indeed they had been skiing.  We saw several ski areas after that, and the snow did look wonderful.  I bet they had fun . . . and by the time we left, this little coffee house was filled with apres skiiers!
